Late 19th Century French Helmet and Weaponry
Item Details
A collection of late 19th century items including a French firefighter’s helmet and weaponry. The antique French brass fire helmet features an elevated comb, large front emblem, and front and rear downward brim, thought to be for official use. The dagger, sword and powder flasks are also late 19th century. The Ottoman Turkish style dagger includes a brass and leather scabbard, with a decorative brass handle. The sword features a French M1767 style brass hilt, and includes a black leather scabbard with a brass chape. This collection also includes two antique military powder flasks. The copper and brass flask features an embossed horse and rider design, and an iron and brass flask features an embossed man and dog design. The collection is accompanied by two modern decorative shield wall plaques mounted with medieval style weaponry forms and heraldic symbols. The antique French items were purchased in Paris.
