A large Chinese ancestral portrait, depicting four seated male elders. The portrait is a watercolor and gouache on paper. This art is presented in a distressed finish gilt wood frame under glass.
The top depicts an elder in a deep grey-purple robe with a red and green cap with gold finial. The center depicts a male with a deep grey-purple robe and red and black cap with gold finial. The left bottom row depicts a male in a deep grey-purple surcoat with bright blue robe, long fingernails, with a red and black cap with gold finial. The right bottom row depicts a male with a deep grey-purple surcoat with lavender robe, long fingernails and red and black cap with gold finial. Each elder features a vase of flowers and lidded bowl beside them, providing their identification.
