A mixed media piece on canvas by Waine Wood. This work depicts a woman in 18-century dress reclined on a chaise lounge with a cat on her lap as she reads a book. Atop the painted ground are flat additions of wallpaper and the cat’s face as well as three dimensional details in the spines of books, the woman’s hairpiece, and furniture molding. The piece is signed by the artist to the lower right and dated ‘1980’. It is presented in a thin black frame.
