Circa 1820 - 1825 French 18K Yellow Gold Enameled Brooch
Item Details
A circa 1820-1825, antique French enameled brooch in 18K yellow gold featuring a Neo-Classical scene hand-painted atop a concave oval center. The image depicts a female figure dressed in a flowing gossamer, holding a mirror while gazing at her reflection as a pair of winged Putti surround her admiringly. The painting is delicately executed in mostly tonal white with pale shades of pink and green throughout, soft blue and gilt accents, off-set by a starkly contrasted black ground. The piece is framed by 18K yellow gold carved acanthus and c-scroll decoration, appearing to be unmarked. It retains a hinged tapering pin with retrofitted modern c-clasp to verso.
