A hand-knotted Anatolian wool area rug. The rug features two square pictorial medallions, each having mirrored antelope forms in a steel mauve-grey, surrounded by rectilinear floral elements and framed by barber pole borders. The surrounding field has a palette of orange, black, burgundy and bright white, with a dense pattern of geometric figural elements, likely an insect considered auspicious for power or strength. The field is banded by triangular, soldier floral, and a wide meander borders in the field colors. It has tightly woven wool kilim skirts to each end, with natural, undyed wool warp fringe and double overcast edges. Unlabeled.
