An oil painting on canvas by listed artist William Benecke (1934-2001) titled Passage To The Garden. Depicted is an entryway leading into a lush garden filled with bright flowers and trees. This piece is signed in graphite to the lower right. To the verso, is an informative label and biography for the artist. Work is present unframed.
William Benecke was born in 1934 in Chicago, Illinois and had his formal art training at the Art Institute of Chicago. He worked as an illustrator for several major studios in Chicago and also worked as a staff illustrator for the Chicago Tribune and Sun Times. When he was 24, he traveled to Mexico and lived there for ten years during which time he painting and ran his own gallery. He is known for his landscapes, garden scenes and portraits.
