An antique original 19th-century oil painting on canvas re-mounted to board by listed English artist Ellis Wilson. The image depicts a romantic landscape with a river cutting through a heavily wooded terrain, filled with trees, vegetation, and giant boulders. Artist signature is signed in the paint to the lower left. This work is mounted in a beveled wood frame with cast molding and a gold leaf finish, equipped to hang.
Condition
- painting has been restored with notably large patches of inpainting and coated with sealing varnish; canvas has been remounted on a rigid board substrate. Accretion on painting. Finish of frame is chipped in a few areas, notably to lower left corner.
