A watercolor landscape on paper titled Smokey Mountain Cottages by Indiana painter Louis William Bonsib (1892-1979). This work depicts a field of purple hills behind a dense forest and cluster of small green toned houses. The initial underdrawing, appearing to have been done in heavy graphite, can be seen through the washes of paint. This work is signed ‘LW Bonsib’ to the lower right corner, and has a label to the verso indicating the title and artist. This work is presented under glass in a textured frame with a green mat, and has a wire to the verso for hanging.

Condition

- glass could be cleaned more thoroughly; minor scratches and chips to frame; mat is warped.
