A Chinese églomisé reverse oil painting on glass of the Sanxing deities and Magu. This highly-detailed work depicts the smiling God of Longevity, Shoulao, identified by the large peach he holds in his hand. By his side are Luxing, the God of Status holding a ruyi scepter, and Fuxing, the God of Blessings. To Shoulao’s right is the Goddess of Longevity, Magu, holding a basket of peaches and lingzhi fungus. A landscape of trees and hills is visible behind the figures. The piece is presented behind glass in a carved frame with a cord to the verso for hanging.
Condition
- fair; worn frame finish; light chipping to paint; protective glass would merit from being cleaned.
