Luigi Kasimir Colored Etching "Seebenstein Castle"
Item Details
By Hand
An etching on paper of a well, titled Seebenstein Castle, by Austro-Hungarian artist Luigi Kasimir (1881-1962). This detailed etching, which appears to be colored ‘a la poupée’ (an intaglio technique in which colored ink is applied via a wad of cloth directly to the same plate), depicts a close look at the Austrian castle, showing a well with a decorative cap and a series of windows and archways partially obscured by trees and shrubs. This work is signed by the artist in pencil to the center of the lower margin, and is presented behind a double mat and under glass in a gold tone frame with hanging hardware to the verso.
