An oil painting on board titled The Albatross by listed American artist Raphael Ellender (1906 – 1972). This abstract work features a beach setting with a large silhouette of a flying albatross hovering over a much smaller reclining nude female figure with her face toward the ground. The composition is separated into wavy horizontal registers, each filled with a different color. The work is signed ‘Ellender’ to the lower right; handwriting to the verso reads the title and the artist’s name. The board remains unframed.
