Russian Handpainted Enamel Box

A hand painted Russian lacquer box. The piece features a battle scene by the sea and depictions of horses. The box was made from wood and has a hinged top, shiny black lacquer surface and red interior. These boxes are often given as gifts by dignitaries to new acquaintances and friends. This large example is artist signed on the lid and has a description of the scene in Russian.
