Vernis Martin Style Display Cabinet by Mariner 1893

Item Details

A vernis Martin style display cabinet by Mariner 1893. The transitional Louis XV/XVI style case is adorned with ormolu mounts and trim. It features a stepped, bowfront top above two glazed doors flanked by a pair of curved, glass panels. The doors open to an illuminated interior lined in red, foliate-patterned fabric and fitted with two removable, glass shelves and one removable, fabric-lined shelf. The lower, exterior panels are painted with landscape and courtship scenes and the cabinet rises on four cabriole legs. The back is marked ‘1893 / Mariner’.
