Early 20th Century Mira Disc Music Box and Discs
Item Details
An early 20th century smaller-sized disc music box, made by Mira, with a mahogany case which has a replaced embossed front latch. To the inside of the lid is a Mira lithograph printed paper label with farm scene. The music mechanism features a single comb, a disc pressure bar which extends the width of the case from left to right, a start and stop lever. The winding arm is present. The center disc is marked ‘75008 Patent Applied For’. The music box comes with twenty-seven song discs, with such titles as ‘Star Spangled Banner,’ ‘Old Folks At Home,’ ‘The Shade of the Old Apple Tree,’ ‘Yankee Doodle,’ ‘Big Indian Chief Two-step,’ ‘American Eagle,’ ‘Florodora,’ ‘Mississippi Mamie Song,’ ‘Meet Me In St. Louis,’ ‘Babes in Toyland Waltz,’ ‘By The Sycamore Tree’ and more.
Condition
- music box works with some prompting; would benefit from cleaning and most likely some adjustment. The discs show light rust.
