Circa 1900 Germantown Hand Woven Navajo Weaving

An early Germantown hand woven Navajo weaving, circa 1900. The textile is done in the commercially spun and dyed woolen yarns provided to the Navajos by government licensed traders between 1870-1905 which are coveted for their vibrant hues. The textile is hand woven in an alternating ivory, black and red zig zag lightning pattern with sawtooth edges and additional lightning patterns in gold and green at the sides.

Condition

Overall the rug is in good condition. There are two small holes, slight wear in several areas and slight color bleed at one edge.
