Antique Japanese Satsuma Kinkozan Vase
Item Details
A Japanese Satsuma ware vase produced by the Kinkōzan pottery. This distinctive vase features a serene domestic scene with ladies in elaborate dress, a child and a dragon. The opposite side of the vase depicts a fighting scene between a dragon tail and a youth against a blue-black ground with applied scale embellishments. The vase has golden accents and hand-applied embellishments throughout. It is marked to the underside ‘Kinkōzan, Made by Asanō’ (金光山淺野造) underneath a Shimazu mon. It likely dates from the late 19th century or early 20th century.
