A mixed media painting on paper of a portrait attributed to listed artist Endre Szasz (1926 – 2003). This painting depicts a bearded man posed in slight profile against a black background. He is rendered with layers of pale and earthen pigment that has been etched into in order to indicate finer detail. To the lower right corner of the composition is an etched artist signature. The painting is presented under glass beneath a linen and gold tone mat, which is placed in a silver tone wooden frame featuring moulded foliate patterning to the surface. To the verso is affixed hanging wire and a typed artist statement contained in a plastic pouch.
Condition
- slight dust to surface; staining to linen mat; punctures to paper backing.
