Vintage Silver Plate Crumb Catcher and Ashtray
Item Details
A vintage silver plate crumb catcher and ashtray. The crumb catcher has scrollwork to the handle. The ashtray features three sections, with a sphinx placed in the middle of the circular cover. This decorative top section gives way to a four-slot ash receptacle, which sits in a round bowl. The lid and bowl feature a meander motif encircling the rim. The base of the bowl is marked with the hallmark of a crown, a fleur-de-lis, and the initials ‘PGS’ for ‘Plated German Silver’, and the numbers ‘6089’. The middle ashtray portion is marked ‘36917 – Elkington Plate – England’.
