Sigmund Menkes Gouache of a Woman and Bellhop
Item Details
A gouache painting on paper of a woman and a bellhop by listed Polished painter Sigmund Menkes (1896-1986). This loose, painterly work depicts the lady, in feathered hat and low-cut white dress, sitting on a sofa and looking over her shoulder to speak with a bellhop who carries a large bouquet of flowers and rests one arm on the back of the seat. A small white dog lays docilely next to the woman. The painting is signed in paint to the lower right corner, and is presented behind glass in a gold tone frame with an orange mat and wire to the verso for hanging.
