A mid-century still life oil painting on canvas by listed Ukrainian-French artist Isaac Païles (1895-1978). The work depicts bread, pears and apples scattered across a table covered with a blue tablecloth. The piece is signed in black paint to the lower right and is presented in a wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- to Fair; canvas is loose inside frame; 1.25" tear to canvas at lower center with attempted taped repair to verso; craquelure to image; yellowing to varnish; significant wear, chipping and scratching to frame finish; loose joints to frame; frame does not have backing paper; gallery sticker to verso; frame would benefit from cleaning.
