The realistic work depicts a landscape with grazing cattle and figures in the foreground, a river in the midground with a sailboat and a large gothic cathedral with flying buttresses in the background, likely Salisbury Cathedral. The scene is set beneath an overcast sky, with rain visible behind the cathedral. The painting is unsigned. It is presented in an ornate gilded frame with molded details and beaded trim. The painting is wired on the verso.
