Hand-Knotted Pakistani "Princess" Tekke Bokhara Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Princess Tekke Bokhara area rug with signature. This Pakistani-made wool rug is rendered in a palette of sage-emerald, black, ivory, camel, and pink. It features a classic lattice pattern containing Tekke guls interspersed with Chemche bow and arrow guls over a sage-emerald field. Framing the field are twelve wraparound borders over sage-emerald, including starbursts, eight-pointed stars, and diamond patterns. Above the wraparound borders, at the top and bottom of the rug, are horizontal panels, one containing dyrnak guls, the other a diamond lattice pattern. One of the dyrnak guls frames an inscription, likely the signature of the weaver. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at top and bottom with knotted ivory cotton warp fringe. The rug is labeled on the reverse.
