A collection of midwifery books. This collection features six books on midwifery bound in leather with gilt ornamentation to both cover and spine, sewn-in bookmark, and raised bands to the spine. The interior of the books include a marbled paste-in with black lettering over a white sticker which includes the numbered limited edition copy and the words The Classics of Obstetrics & Gynecology Library in the Library of Douglas E. Heritage, M.D. The books include Treatise Improvement Midwifery by Edmund Chapman, A Treatise of Midwifery by Fielding Ould, The Art of Midwifery by Elizabeth Nihell, New System of Midwifry by John Burton, Cases in Midwifry by William Giffard, and A Compendious System of Midwifery by William Dewees. The books were published in the early to mid 1990s by The Classics of Obstetrics & Gynecology Library Division of Gryphon Editions, and includes a letter to charter members detailing the history of forceps in delivery.
