Hand-Knotted Moroccan Berber Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Moroccan Berber area rug. This thick wool rug is woven in a palette of cream, red, and black. It features a free-form design of red and black gestural motifs over a field of undyed wool in the manner of Ben Ourani tribal weavers. The rug also incorporates Boucherouite gestures in the placement of small spots of bright green and yellow, in one case sourced from a strip of fabric. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing with kilim skirts in purple, green black and crimson. One end has warp fringe in purple, crimson, and green, while the other is hand-finished. Unlabeled.
