Pair of Japanese Vases Including Nippon and Fukagawa
Item Details
A pair of Japanese vases including Nippon. The spherical vase with three square gilt handles and gilt base features hand-painted illustrations of pink, blue and yellow flowers on a yellow band, and within medallions on the sides. It is marked to the base ‘Hand Painted Nippon’. The rectangular white surface vase, in the style of a flask, features on one side a songbird perched on a grapevine with green leaves and a hanging cluster of grapes. Horizontal black inscription and a red stamp are to the lower right corner. The underside is marked ‘Made by Fukagawa’ (深川製 Fukagawa sei) underneath a mountain.
