A hand-knotted Persian Tabriz area rug. This wool rug features a circular medallion with birds, peacocks and palmettes in a dense field of herati pattern on a midnight blue background. The rug offers a samovar pattern in the primary border and is flanked by guard borders that feature a reciprocal trefoil, barber pole, and floral pattern. It is finished with overcast selvedge edges, a narrow kilim skirt and a cotton warp fringe at either end. The rug has a dealer tag attached but is otherwise unlabeled.
