Antique Hand-Knotted Persian Kerman Carpet Runner
Item Details
An antique Persian Kerman carpet runner. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of rose, pink, deep midnight blue, and cream. It features a crisply detailed floral design beginning with vertically arranged shields, each containing an exuberantly flowering tree over a rose-colored ground. The interstices between shields are filled with a riot of flowers over midnight blue. Framing the field are three floral borders, grounded in midnight blue or cream. Selvedges are overcast, with incidental fringe in areas where edge cords have broken. Ends finish with short, unbound warp fringe likely consisting of wool with camel hair. The rug is ragged on the reverse.
