A late 19th-century oil painting on canvas wintry landscape scene by Charles Lambert (19th-20th-century). An icy stream runs diagonally through the snow covered land of this barren landscape. Defoliated trees stand tall along the banks. In the distance, a clearing appears between two flanking walls of trees to reveal several structures of a distant farm. The fluffy white snow reflects the blue tones of the sky above. Signed to the lower right in sgraffito. Presented without glass, housed in a ca. 1900 reeded oak wood frame.
Condition
- craquelure present throughout; evidence of older cleaning under UV light; minor scratches to the frame.
