An oil painting on canvas of a romantic landscape by American artist M.E. King (20th Century). This work features a lake surrounded by a forest of trees and overgrown foliage. Birds flying and glide across the water and mountains are silhouetted in the background against a greyish blue sky. The painting is signed ‘M.E. King’ to the lower left. It is presented in a Louis XV style gilt and gesso frame.

Condition

- minor stains scattered throughout painting; craquelure throughout; some paint loss along composition edges underneath frame; small cracks, scratches, stains, and discoloration in frame; pieces of gesso broken off of frame in foliate moldings.
