Hand-Knotted Carved Chinese Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted carved Chinese area rug. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of camel, cream, terracotta, and two shades of blue. It features an Old Peking-style design beginning with a central medallion over a camel-colored field. The field is open except for floral and Chinese key patterns running along the outer edges and rounding at the corners. Framing the field is a major border containing florals, medallions, and inscription-like devices over cream. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with short kilim skirts and knotted ivory wool warp fringe. Unlabeled.
