Early 20th Century Oak Chairs, Including One With an Ohio State Reformatory Label

A group of four early 20th century oak chairs, including one with an Ohio State Reformatory label. Two of the chairs feature backs with four vertical slats above contoured, plank seats. They rise on square legs joined by stretchers. The remaining two chairs have backs with two horizontal splats over contoured, plank seats. They rise on square legs joined by box stretchers. One chair is marked with a partial paper label reading ‘From / [Ohio] State Reformatory / Mansfield, Ohio.’
The Ohio State Reformatory was in use from 1910-1990 and was featured in shows such as Ghost Adventures and the movie The Shawshank Redemption.
