Vintage Maddox Colonial Revival-Style Secretary Desk
Item Details
A vintage Colonial Revival-style secretary desk by Maddox. This piece has a mahogany finish and is topped with a broken pediment with a turned finial. It features an upper cabinet with three interior shelves behind glass-paneled double doors with geometric wood glaze dividing each door into thirteen sections. The lower case consists of a slant-front fold-out writing surface which opens to reveal a collection of cubbies, a cupboard, and four small drawers; the cupboard door is decorated with an incised fan and flanked by turned stiles. The writing surface rests above four stacked drawers with serpentine fronts and brass tone willow mounts with bail handles. One drawer is marked ‘Maddox Tables’ to the interior. The piece is supported by short cabriole legs with ball-and-claw feet.
