Large Hand-Knotted "Harshang" Area Rug

A large hand-knotted harshang area rug. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of gold, cornsilk, and rust. It features a harshang pattern consisting of palmettes in different sizes amid flowers, foliage, and vines over a gold-colored field with a small star at the center. Framing the field are five borders, including a primary border filled with palmettes and vines over rust. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with short, knotted ivory cotton warp fringe. Unlabeled.
