Item Details

A turn-of-the-century mahogany bookcase cabinet from John H. Little & Co. The J. H. Little furniture company existed in the first decade of the 20th century in New York. This piece features a scrolled pediment above the gallery to the top of the piece, which is pierced on its sides. Below this top shelf and gallery is one mirrored cabinet to the center, accented with scrolling brass hinges and flanked by two additional beveled mirrors at the back of the piece. This area features turned supports to either side. Below this sits a group of four shelves, two of which are movable with notches being built into the design of the piece. The top shelf is decorated with pierced brackets and spindles to either side. Light floral, scrolling, and geometric carvings are present throughout the piece. It sits on bracket feet with a curved and carved apron. It is marked with a tag reading ‘From John H. Little & Co.’ to the back.
