Early Carved Walnut Spanish Papelera with Bone Columns and Wrought Iron Mounts and Custom Stand

An early carved walnut Spanish papelera with bone columns, wrought iron mounts, and a custom stand. This 17th century piece features pierced ironwork framing ten hand-dovetailed drawers. Each drawer displays line-and-block bone inlay surrounding a center iron keyhole and pull. In addition, each drawer is flanked by two spiral-carved bone columns on either side. To the center of the piece is a single cabinet with an iron locking mechanism to the center, surrounded by carved detail and bone inlay; a key with attached tassel is included. Oval cast iron handles with pierced and scrolling backplates are present to the sides of the piece. This piece sits on a later custom made wrought iron base with a knight finial.

Condition
- some missing bone inlay; oxidation and some rust to iron components; scratches and oxidation to interior of drawers; various chips and worming especially to top, consistent with age; repair has been made to back.
