Item Details
A pairing of vintage rural genre scene machine woven tapestry panels. The horizontal panels depict 18th-century figures in landscape settings. One panel illustrates figures gathering wheat in subtle tones of green, pink and blue. The second panel is in a folk art style picturing a family by a log cabin with farm animals in the foreground, and church by a lake in the distance. This panel is woven in pale monochromatic tones of blue and brown. The wheat sheaf panel is marked with a ‘Made in Belgium’ stamp to the verso, the second panel is unmarked.
