An original oil portrait on board by well listed Irish artist Ronald Ossory Dunlop (1894-1973). The portrait depicts a mature gentleman with a distinctive mustache and goatee, done in an expressive, almost dry brush manner using a pale palette. The painting is signed in the lower right corner and presented in a linen mat with a pewter finish wood frame. The brass plaque mounted at the bottom center reads R.O. Dunlop R.A., L.G..

Ronald Dunlop was born in Dublin, studying at the Manchester and Wimbledon Schools of Art and in Paris, he known for his landscapes and portraits. Dunlop was elected a member of the Royal Academy in 1950 and has several paintings in London’s Tate Gallery.
