Antique Japanese Metal Kogai Hair Arranger Sword Accessory

Item Details

An antique Japanese metal kogai. The pin is decorated with a two figures, one likely a child, kneeling in front of a box, embellished with gold-tone overlay. Metal kogai were often carried in sword scabbards and used to arrange and hold hairstyles. A small paper label reading ‘kogai’ is affixed to the verso, however, the piece is otherwise unmarked. 1938.0164
