A 19th century watercolor on paper by Eugène Edouard Soulès (French, 1807-1876). The idyllic Pastoral depicts a stream meandering through a green valley and passing through a country village. Figures stand within the landscape and stepped mountains rise in the distance. It is signed along the bottom ‘Eugène Soulès’‘. The painting is presented double matted under glass within a gilt frame. A hand written label attached on verso reads ’From the collection of Her Majesty the Empress Eugénie’.

- toning to painting; light scattered foxing across the top edge; wear to finish of the frame.
