A hand-knotted Indo-Tabriz wool area rug. The rug has a large floral pendant medallion in a lively palette of pale apricot, pale blue and yellow, indigo, pinks, taupe and scarlet on an ivory lozenge. The surrounding field is dense with filler palmettes, small flower heads and foliate elements in the field colors. Indigo spandrels repeat the pattern and colors. t has reciprocal medahil guard borders in red and indigo, framing a modified samovar border of filler palmettes and florals in the field colors on an indigo ground. It has woven kilim skirts and hand-tied cotton warp fringe to each end, with overcast edges. It is unmarked.
