Antique Chinese Carved Stone Seal

Item Details

An antique Chinese carved stone seal. The seal is topped by the carved depiction of a guardian lion. Incised Chinese characters present on underside of seal. The previous museum inventory number is marked on the side of the seal ‘1938.0037’.

Collected in the late 19th and early 20th century and donated to a Private Midwestern Institution in 1938
Sold to enhance and preserve the Institution’s mission-relevant Collections
