An early 20th century hand-knotted Persian Bakhtiari area rug. This wool rug features a large medallion with floral sprays upon the field in a colorful palette of red, navy, blush, yellow, steel, and green. The spandrels feature floral sprays and vine details in the field colors. It has a wide primary border with a split leaf and lotus flower pattern on an indigo field, flanked by off-white floral meaner guard borders. It has overcast edges and cotton warp fringe to either end. Tagged with production numbers to the reverse.
