A gouache illustration on paper by listed artist Ben Latham Kidder (ca. 20th century). This artwork depicts a soldier standing at attention before an emotional man and woman, all lit by a candle which the woman holds in one hand. This detailed work is rendered in thoughtful swathes of flat color, and is signed ‘B. Latham Kidder’ to the center of the lower margin. The work is matted under glass and is presented in a silver tone bamboo-motif frame with wire for hanging.

- wear to frame; residue to glass; some very light surface marks to painting.
