A hand knotted Kashan area rug. This rug features a central medallion in a palette of blues, red and white. The red field has an arabesque pattern with shah abasi palmettes throughout in a palette of red, blue, yellow and white. The rug has a compound border in a similar palette. The main border has a crab and lotus pattern pattern on a blue field. The rug has a natural warp fringe to either end. The rug has a tag to the reverse indicating it is a Kashan rug made in Iran.
