Item Details
An oil painting on canvas of a figure, titled The Young Ascetic, by painter Joan Abelove (died 2010). The minimally-colored work, using white and cream on a black ground, depicts an abstracted figure with their arms crossed, a bird just off to the right of the figure. This work is signed ‘Abelove ’65’ to the upper right corner, and has the title and artist’s name noted to the verso. The piece is presented in a gold tone frame with no hanging hardware.
Condition
- fair; dusty; canvas is scuffed in several areas; frame is nicked and worn.
