17th - 18th Century Oil Painting on Canvas of the Crucifixion
Item Details
A late 17th to early 18th century oil painting on canvas of the Crucifixion. This piece features an atmospheric depiction of Christ on the cross, his eyes lifted to the upper right. In the background is a sparse landscape, with the moon hanging low in the sky. This work is presented in a gold tone frame with a wire for hanging.
Condition
- canvas has been relined; paint loss and crazing throughout painting; small scratches to upper right and center left edges; stretcher marks along all sides; gap between right side of canvas and frame; wear and nicks to frame; gaps to frame corners.
