Tibetan Bronze Mirror Attributed to Yuan Dynasty

Item Details

A Tibetan bronze mirror attributed to the Yuan dynasty (1271-1368). The mirror features a 16-arm figure of the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara in the center, framed with Tibetan inscription around the outside. The reverse is blank in the center but also framed with Tibetan writing. The reverse has the former museum inventory number ‘1938.0238’.

Collected in the late 19th and early 20th century and donated to a Private Midwestern Institution in 1938
Sold to enhance and preserve the Institution’s mission-relevant Collections

- to fair; Markings and corrosion consistent with age
