Chinese Late Qing Dynasty Sang de Boeuf Vase

Item Details

A Chinese late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) sang de boeuf vase. The vase has a thin, lobed lip over a cylindrical neck and wide body. The piece is glazed with an oxblood underglaze and a contrasting blue overglaze. The underside of the vase is marked with the previous museum inventory number ‘1938.0189’ alongside a previous dealer’s affixed label. A label affixed to the inner lip attributes the vase to the Qianlong dynasty (‘Tien-Lung’) , however, the vase likely dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. The vase is presented on a carved wooden stand. 1938.0189
