Chinese Bronze Bamboo Motif Incense Burner
Item Details
A Chinese bronze incense burner. The vessel features a removable lid with a flame shaped finial and reticulated bamboo leaf pattern. The body of the vessel has two arched bamboo style handles, a deep basin decorated with the continuing bamboo motif along the exterior and four branching bamboo roots as feet. The censer stands on a rectangular base, lined with a repeating bamboo pattern. Unmarked, the vessel dates from the late Qing dynasty (1644-1911) or the early Republic period (1912-1949). The underside is marked with the previous museum inventory number, ‘1938.0315’.
