1954 Gouache Painting on Board of Ballerinas
Item Details
A 1954 gouache painting on board. The piece depicts a row of nine ballerinas in white dresses, dancing across a brown and black landscape accented with bare trees. The work is signed and dated in black paint to the lower left with a signature that appears to read ‘Salverson’; however, no clear artist attribution could be made. It is double matted in cream and light brown and presented under glass in a gold tone wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- discoloration to paper and mat from age; light scratching to frame finish; tears and gallery sticker to frame’s paper backing.
